What are Shockwaves?

Shockwaves are high-energy acoustic (sound) waves that can penetrate the skin to treat an injured area in the body. There is a high release of energy at the soft tissue/bone interface. The release of this energy from the shockwaves affects the surrounding tissues creating a positive physiological effect. This creates what we call Mechano – which is physiological effect through transduction of stimulating the normal and injured cells to produce healing factors.

How Does It Work?

  • Re-initiates stagnant healing processes in chronic injuries
  • Decreases inflammatory processes
  • Stimulates osteoclasts and fibroclasts to rebuild injured tissues
  • Facilitates re-absorption of calcifications in tendons and ligaments
  • Stimulates migration (differentiation) of the stem cell.

Evidence-based success rates indicate that more than 80% of patients report improvement after the first treatment of the program. Most studies report a full healing rate of 65-85% after completion of the treatment program.
